About Charlie Waters

ee4a3de7-cb89-4772-9bd1-5e4053701d92-1Growing up the son of a West Texas lawyer, I knew at a young age what I wanted to do with my life. Like my father, I yearned to have a family, invest in my community and be a lawyer that made a real difference in the lives of others. I am grateful, humbled and blessed for the success I have found in life and in practicing law. Representing injured victims and surviving family members of wrongful deaths has been my sincere life privilege.

Since my first day of practicing law, I have exclusively represented the injured and wrongful death victims.  The first day was now over 3 decades ago. I am still as passionate about being a lawyer for the injured and the wronged as I was back then. I love being their voice to demand the respect, justice and compensation they are rightfully owed.

Dallas has been my home since obtaining a B.B.A. degree (accounting) from Texas Tech University (’78) and a law degree from Baylor University School of Law (’81). It was at Baylor Law School, where my father attended, that I developed a deep respect for our jury trial system and a hunger for the courtroom.

My trial and courtroom experiences have covered a wide variety of cases and have taken  me to communities and courtrooms all over Texas. Having successfully tried lawsuits involving wrongful death and catastrophic injury, I know from experience what it takes to effectively develop and persuasively present a case to a jury. There is no substitute for courtroom experience. There are certain things you simply cannot learn from a law book. Knowing how to communicate to a jury and successfully try a lawsuit enhances the value of all my clients’ cases and gives my clients an advantage both in trials and settlements.

After 33 years of practicing law, and having written numerous articles and guest lectured on injury law topics such as Personal Injury Litigation Practice in Texas, Demonstrative Evidence, Damages and Premise Liability, it is particularly special to me to be recognized by my peers with an “AV” ® rating by Martindale-Hubbell. (This rating is based on peer review of local attorneys and signifies the highest level of professional excellence and standards of conduct.)

But my greatest honor occurs when someone who has been seriously injured or has lost a loved one due to the negligent acts of another turns to me for help and retains me as their lawyer. That is a special moment and creates a unique and personal bond of trust that I have with all my clients.

Through decades of dedicated hard work, I have developed a reputation and built a career based on the simple truth that those who carelessly cause injury and harm to others should be held fully and completely responsible under the law.

Anything less is simply not justice.
